Meet Matthew!

Matthew is a member of the PaleoMIX team at the University of Copenhagen and holds the McDonald Chair in Palaeoproteomics at the University of Cambridge. Previously, he was a professor of biomolecular archaeology at the University of York, where he founded BioArCh, bridging biology, chemistry, and archaeology. His research delves into the persistence of proteins in ancient samples, using innovative techniques like ZooMS (zooarchaeology by mass spectrometry) to identify bone and collagen-based materials. Recognized for his contributions, Matthew received the Pomerance Award for Scientific Contributions to Archaeology in 2022 and has been elected a Fellow of multiple esteemed academies.
